For a GM, the layout creates constant tactical pressure. Bridges are natural choke points, separated islands let encounters occur at different elevations or distances and the abandoned buildings provide cover once characters reach solid ground. Shadowy creatures can threaten from the darkness without needing invented architecture, because the environment already offers countless unseen approaches. The map works as a lost underground city, cavern settlement or ancient valley hidden below the surface, especially when the party must decide whether reaching the central treasure is worth committing to routes with no easy retreat.
