About this Map
Death House is a complete gothic residence that becomes progressively more dangerous the farther characters move from its respectable facade. The upper building is arranged as a multi-story townhouse with parlors, dining rooms, bedrooms, servants' spaces and narrow stairs, giving the first part of the location the recognizable logic of an old family home. Dust, abandoned furnishings and increasingly unsettling details let that domestic structure carry the tension without needing every room to be a battlefield.
Beneath the house, the architecture changes completely. Cellars and secret access descend into a stone dungeon of crypts, corridors, chambers and ritual spaces, replacing the vertical openness of the manor with tighter underground routes. For a GM running Curse of Strahd, this transition is one of the map's strongest tools: players can learn the house as a residence before discovering that the true dungeon lies underneath it. The many floors support exploration over an entire session or more, while stairs and hidden passages make movement between areas consequential. Outside Barovia, Death House can serve as a haunted townhouse, cult residence or apparently ordinary manor concealing a much older complex below.
