About this Release
Beneath a city's streets and somewhere far darker below them, this pair of maps traces a descent from the merely grimy into the genuinely cursed. They work as a set: the sewer is the way in — the route a party takes to slip under the walls or chase something fleeing downward — and the Redoubt is where that route ends, in a flooded undercroft where a fallen order's last stronghold has rotted into a haunted ruin. Run them back to back and the tone shifts as the party descends: cramped, filthy tunnels giving way to a vast, water-logged cavern hall. Both maps lean on tight sightlines, water hazards, and choke points, so they reward cautious advance and punish anyone who rushes the dark.
Vigil's Sewer is a branching network of cobblestone channels running with murky sludge, crossed by makeshift plank bridges and opening, partway along, into a collapsed section where the wall has broken through into a raw cave choked with rubble and old bones. A small tiled storeroom or hideout sits at the southern end, stocked with barrels, crates, and scattered supplies — a natural spot for an ambush, a stash, or a cornered quarry. The planks are the key tactical feature: they're the only easy way across the filth, so control of a bridge controls the fight. Use it as an infiltration route, a chase, or a grimy skirmish where footing matters as much as initiative.
Redoubt of the Red Crusader is the centerpiece — a sprawling, multi-level ruin built around a dark underground lake. A long red-carpeted causeway crosses the black water past a spiral stair on a stone islet, while the upper reaches hold a treasure-strewn hall gone to rot, a side chamber blooming with unnatural fungus and strange spores, and rowboats drifting at the water's edge. Below, a tiled lower complex spreads out into living quarters, a storeroom, and a moon-marked ritual floor, with shambling figures lingering in the lower passages. There's a lot of map here, so frame it as a dungeon delve rather than a single fight: the causeway and lake split the space into defensible zones, the fungus chamber and treasure hall offer reasons to linger and risk, and the haunted lower halls give you the slow-burn dread to close the descent. Name it as the Red Crusader's last redoubt and hint at the curse without spelling it out — the empty boats and the rot do the talking.
