About this Map
Crystal Palace - Lower Hold descends away from the formal halls into a darker, stranger level dominated by long bands of water or flooded channels and repeated sculptural or mechanical forms arranged along them. The geometry remains deliberate, but the space feels more like a sealed holding area, reservoir, or hidden infrastructure than a public palace floor.
For a GM, the lower hold creates a very different encounter from the ground floor above. Water divides routes, narrow edges limit movement, and the repeated fixtures provide strong landmarks across an otherwise severe dark chamber. Characters may need to move along exposed paths, cross between sections, or interact with whatever the hold was built to contain. In Shattered Star: The Dead Heart of Xin, the level is part of the Crystal Palace's deeper structure. Outside the campaign it can serve as a flooded vault, magical reservoir, containment level, submerged prison, or hidden undercroft beneath a monumental fortress.
