Splinter Ridge is a dry, broken wilderness of ravines, stone shelves and scattered remains. Narrow gullies twist between higher ridges, while bones and debris appear in several pockets of the terrain. The result is a battlefield with multiple elevations and very few clean lines from one side to the other.

For a GM, the ridge is ideal for an ambush, hunt or pursuit. Creatures can disappear into gullies, ranged attackers can use higher shelves and characters may need to commit to one route without knowing what lies around the next bend. The scattered remains provide easy evidence of previous danger without defining its cause. Splinter Ridge works as badlands, canyon country or a monster-haunted route where the ground itself fragments the party's formation.
