About this Map
Mocking Cries uses the familiar architecture of the Spire Dormitory as the setting for an encounter in which ordinary halls suddenly become uncertain territory. Corridors, doors and private rooms break sight lines into short segments, so voices or movement can be heard without immediately revealing where the source is. The dormitory's compact layout makes that uncertainty practical at the table: characters can round a corner, check one room and still leave several nearby spaces unobserved.
In Strength of Thousands: Hurricane's Howl, the map works best when the tension comes from navigating a known place under unfamiliar pressure. A GM can stage ambushes from doorways, use adjoining rooms to separate the party or make the sound of something nearby more important than a long-distance line of sight. It is a useful reminder that a location does not need to be a dungeon to become dangerous once its normal rhythms are disrupted.
