About this Map
Holding the Line uses the streets of Nantambu as a defensive battlefield rather than an ordinary travel map. Buildings and urban edges shape a broad route through the city, creating a clear direction of attack while side spaces, corners and obstacles give defenders places to regroup. The map is open enough for waves of enemies to advance visibly, but structured enough that positioning still determines whether those waves can be contained.
In Strength of Thousands: Shadows of the Ancients, the encounter belongs to the defense of the Magaambya and Nantambu. For a GM, the street layout makes reinforcement and escalation easy to run: new threats can appear from the far end, injured allies can fall back behind cover, and characters must decide whether to hold a narrow point or advance into more exposed ground. It is equally useful for any urban siege scene where the party's task is not to clear a dungeon but to prevent the battle from moving past them.
