About this Map
Forest Pond is a quiet woodland encounter map centered on a dark pond fed by narrow streams, with patches of lilies and irregular banks breaking up the water. Dense trees and undergrowth surround the clearing closely enough that the site feels hidden from nearby trails, while the branching water creates several natural approaches rather than one obvious path through the scene.
For a GM, the pond can be used as more than scenery. The water divides movement, the narrow banks create exposed crossings, and the vegetation around the perimeter provides concealment for creatures or characters approaching from the forest. It is equally useful for a peaceful rest, a tracking scene, an ambush, a territorial beast, or an encounter that begins when something moves beneath the surface. As a Kingmaker wilderness map it slips easily into hexploration, but its neutral layout makes it broadly useful for any temperate forest campaign.
