About this Map
Frostvik Hills are a sparse snow-covered upland of rounded rises, scattered rocks and wind-exposed ground. There are few trees and almost no hard cover, so elevation and the uneven contours of the hills become the primary terrain features.
For a GM, the openness is useful when characters need to see danger coming but still cannot reach it quickly. Creatures can crest a rise, ranged attacks can dominate exposed ground and small depressions provide only temporary shelter. The map suits winter patrols, hunting, pursuit or encounters with large creatures that benefit from room to maneuver. Frostvik Hills can also serve as a travel waypoint between denser forests and higher mountains, emphasizing how exposed the party has become.
