Brownleaf Forest is a close, shadowed woodland floor of exposed roots, tangled vines, dead branches, dark soil, red-brown vegetation, and scattered burrow mouths. Compared with a bright forest clearing, the space feels compressed by growth from every side, with very little uninterrupted ground for a straightforward charge or long ranged attack.

For a GM, the roots and dense undergrowth can naturally function as difficult terrain or cover, while the burrows create ready-made entry points for beasts, swarms, or smaller creatures. Sightlines are short enough to support ambushes without needing artificial walls, and the irregular paths encourage characters to choose between slower protected routes and more exposed open patches. Brownleaf Forest is built for wilderness encounters that should feel tangled and close: a hunt, pursuit, hidden den, territorial creature, or any forest scene where the battlefield itself is supposed to resist clean formation fighting.
