THE VAULT OF GREED

Deep beneath Runeforge lies the Vault of Greed, a sanctum once devoted to the sin of avarice — and the twisted brilliance that greed can inspire. The air within the vault hums faintly, a chorus of magic and machinery that never truly sleeps. Gilded inlays trace the walls, and each chamber is guarded not by soldiers, but by ideas — enchantments and constructs designed to protect the hoard of a long-dead Thassilonian magus.

Each of the five circular chambers houses a floating crystal fountain, endlessly producing streams of pure alchemical gold that vanish into the floor, feeding the vault’s ancient mechanisms. The halls between them are lined with petrified scholars and would-be thieves, their last expressions frozen between awe and terror.

To the east lies a grand study, littered with the remains of those who sought to decipher the vault’s secrets. Beyond it, a dining hall and private quarters display grotesque opulence — tables of solid amber, shelves lined with forbidden tomes, and a globe of shimmering sapphire energy that pulses like a living heart.

At the vault’s heart lies the Azure Pool, a churning sphere of arcane power said to be the embodiment of Greed itself — a magical consciousness that tests, tempts, and devours those who seek its riches.

Few leave this place with more than their lives. Fewer still manage to keep even that.
