HOUSE OF THE MOON & CINDERMAW'S HUNTING GROUNDS

Cindermaw’s Hunting Grounds

In the scorched wastelands where the sun burns the sand to glass, the earth itself trembles beneath the slithering shadow of Cindermaw, the colossal fire worm worshiped by savage tribes and feared by all who travel the desert. The Hunting Grounds are a labyrinth of dunes, ash, and buried bones — the remnants of those who strayed too close to the creature’s domain.

The shifting sands conceal sinkholes and jagged rock outcroppings, while the charred remains of ancient ruins peek through the dust, suggesting that something older and more terrible once dwelled here. A single stone well, half-buried and filled with foul water, offers no safety — only false hope. The wind howls across the dunes, carrying the faint smell of sulfur and the promise of death.

In Curse of the Crimson Throne, these grounds serve as a deadly trial — where heroes prove their worth or perish in the flames of a god-beast’s hunger.

House of the Moon

Nestled in the cold highlands, the House of the Moon is both monastery and sanctuary — a holy place dedicated to the goddess of the hunt and transformation. Built of pale stone and surrounded by ancient, twisted trees, its serene exterior hides an aura of quiet tension, as if the building itself listens to the forest’s heartbeat.

The first floor serves as a place of worship and reflection. A great circular chamber bears a floor mosaic of the moon’s phases, surrounded by benches where initiates meditate beneath shafts of silvery light. Twin staircases spiral upward, their steps worn by countless pilgrimages.

The upper floor holds the living quarters and ritual spaces of the faithful. Murals depict the eternal dance between predator and prey, and runes etched into the walls seem to shimmer faintly under moonlight. From here, the high priest or priestess communes with divine visions, their spirit said to wander among the stars.

In Curse of the Crimson Throne, the House of the Moon represents a fragile balance — a place where light and shadow meet, and where faith demands both devotion and sacrifice.
